Improves security features. A password must be set initially.<br>\u2022Adds the ability to review the history of any changes made to the password, network information, or other settings.<br>*For more information, please refer to the &#8216;Setting a Password&#8217; section in the Advanced User Guide on cam.start.canon.<br>2. Enables firmware updates to be performed when the camera is connected to the internet and new firmware is made available on Canon servers.<br>3. Fixes an issue in which the camera may become unresponsive after simultaneously pressing a button assigned to [One-Shot AF\u2192Servo AF] and the shutter button.<br>4. Fixes an issue in which image stabilization may stop working when using an EF lens.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If the camera&#8217;s firmware is already Version 1.7.1, it is not necessary to update the firmware.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"firmware-download\">Firmware Download<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>You can download&nbsp;the latest R7 firmware from Canon&#8217;s Support Sites: <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.usa.canon.com\/internet\/portal\/us\/home\/support\/details\/cameras\/eos-dslr-and-mirrorless-cameras\/mirrorless\/eos-r7?subtab=downloads-firmware\" data-wpel-link=\"external\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"external noopener\">US <\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.canon-europe.com\/support\/consumer_products\/products\/cameras\/digital_slr\/eos-r7.html?type=firmware\" data-wpel-link=\"external\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"external noopener\">Europe<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Make sure that you download the correct firmware for your computer (Windows or Mac).<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How to Update the Canon R7 Firmware<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Updating the firmware for the Canon R7 is pretty straight forward.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When you download and unzip the firmware it will include a PDF guide on how to install the firmware.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There are two methods described in this guide, we would recommend using the memory card method. You simply copy the firmware to the root directory of a memory card (don&#8217;t put it in a folder), then insert into your R7 and run the update from the setup menu. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you are downloading to a Mac then when you click on the .dmg file it will mount a drive in finder where you will find the files.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Previous Firmware Versions<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Improvements from previous firmware versions are always included in the latest firmware version. So even if you have missed a couple of firmware versions, you only ever need to install the latest version.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"changes-in-version-1-4-0\">Firmware Version 1.6.0<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Firmware Version 1.6.0 incorporates the following enhancements and fixes:<br>1. Enables functions to be used without limitation in conjunction with the new Battery Pack LP-E6P.<br>This makes it possible to shoot at the same continuous shooting speed as when using LP-E6NH.<br>In-camera charging of LP-E6P is also supported.<br>2. Adds the ability to select [WPA2] and [WPA3] as a secured protocol.<br>3. Adds support for the Software Development Assistance Kit (EDSDK\/CCAPI).<br>4. The following issues have been fixed.<br>\u30004-1. Fixes an issue, in which when SPEEDLITE EL-5, EL-10 is attached, the &#8220;Accessory unavailable status&#8221; message may be displayed when restarting after the camera has gone into Auto Power Off. (Only occurs with firmware Ver.1.5.0)<br>\u30004-2. Fixes an issue, in which when performing shooting in high-speed continuous shooting + mode with the [Highlight Tone Priority] option set to [ON], focus may not be achieved when certain ISO speed settings are used.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"changes-in-version-1-4-0\">Firmware Version 1.5.0<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Firmware Version 1.5.0 incorporates the following enhancements and fixes:<br>1. Adds support for the Software Development Assistance Kit (EDSDK\/CCAPI).<br>2. The following issues have been fixed.<br>\u30002-1. Fixes an issue that may cause the camera, in rare instances, to experience a delayed restart after the camera has gone into Auto Power Off.<br>\u30002-2. Fixes an issue that, under specific circumstances and in rare instances, may prevent the image from being displayed in the viewfinder or on the screen causing the camera to stop operating, or Error Code 70 may be displayed.<br>\u30002-3. Fixes an issue that may cause the In-Body Image Stabilizer not to initialize when a vibration occurs when the camera is turned on, and Error Code 20 may be displayed.<br>\u30002-4. Fixes an issue that may result in Error Code 70 being displayed when the user is shooting in A+ Mode or with the camera set to AI Focus AF.<br>\u30002-5. Fixes an issue that may cause the card access lamp to start flashing and the camera to not operate normally when shooting small subjects.<br>\u30002-6. Fixes an issue that may cause the camera to continue shooting when the user presses the shutter button and another button at the same time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"changes-in-version-1-4-0\">Firmware Version 1.4.0<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Firmware Version 1.4.0 incorporates the following enhancements and fixes:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Adds support for RF-S10-18mm F4.5-6.3 IS STM lens.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Fixes minor issues.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>If the camera&#8217;s firmware is already Version 1.4.0, it is not necessary to update the firmware.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"changes-in-version-1-4-0\">Firmware Version 1.3.1<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Firmware Version 1.3.1 incorporates the following fix:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Improves the stability of the touch operation control when the [Touch control] is set to [Sensitive].<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"changes-in-version-1-4-0\">Firmware Version 1.3.0<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Firmware Version 1.3.0 incorporates the following enhancements and fixes:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Adds support for Speedlite EL-5. (*The automatic light intensity adjustment of the AF-assist beam is not supported.)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Adds support for the RF-S55-210mm F5-7.1 IS STM.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Fixes minor issues.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"changes-in-version-1-4-0\">Firmware Version 1.2.0<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Firmware Version 1.2.0 incorporates the following enhancements and fixes: <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The [User Def.] on [Picture Style] can now be selected in the Cloud Raw image processing settings. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Fixes an issue that, in rare instances, displays an Error Code 70 when the camera is capturing small subjects. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Fixes minor issues. <\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"changes-in-version-1-4-0\">Firmware Version 1.1.0<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Supports <a href=\"https:\/\/image.canon\/st\/en\/cloud-raw-processing.html\" data-wpel-link=\"external\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"external noopener\">Cloud RAW image processing<\/a> *<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>* Please note the following:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>It is necessary to purchase a subscription plan for <a href=\"https:\/\/image.canon\/st\/en\/cloud-raw-processing.html\" data-wpel-link=\"external\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"external noopener\">Cloud RAW image processing<\/a> from Canon.
