{"id":156,"date":"2020-11-19T21:18:31","date_gmt":"2020-11-19T21:18:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/rfshooters.com\/?p=156"},"modified":"2020-12-10T20:48:35","modified_gmt":"2020-12-10T20:48:35","slug":"firmware-updates-canon-r-rp-r5-r6-rf-50mm-f1-2-lens","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/rfshooters.com\/blog\/firmware-updates-canon-r-rp-r5-r6-rf-50mm-f1-2-lens\/","title":{"rendered":"Firmware Updates for Canon R, RP, R5, R6 and RF 50mm F1.2 Lens"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Canon has released firmware updates for the EOS R, RP, R5, R6 and the RF 50mm F1.2 L USM lens. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>None of the updates offer major improvements but they do take care of a few smaller issues as well as adding support for newer Canon lenses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Canon EOS R &amp; RP<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Firmware version 1.6.0 for the EOS RP and firmware version 1.8.0 for the EOS R improves color balance when shooting with the Canon RF 50mm F1.8 STM lens and adds support for Canon\u2019s RF 70\u2013200mm F2.8 L IS USM and RF 100\u2013500mm F4.5\u20137.1 L IS USM lenses. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You can download&nbsp;firmware version 1.6.0 for the<a href=\"https:\/\/www.usa.canon.com\/internet\/portal\/us\/home\/support\/details\/cameras\/eos-dslr-and-mirrorless-cameras\/mirrorless\/eos-rp?subtab=downloads-firmware\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener external\" data-wpel-link=\"external\"> EOS RP<\/a>&nbsp;and&nbsp;firmware version 1.8.0 for the<a href=\"https:\/\/www.usa.canon.com\/internet\/portal\/us\/home\/support\/details\/cameras\/eos-dslr-and-mirrorless-cameras\/mirrorless\/eos-r?subtab=downloads-firmware\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener external\" data-wpel-link=\"external\"> EOS R<\/a>&nbsp;on Canon\u2019s respective product pages.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Canon EOS R5 &amp; R6<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Firmware version 1.2.0 for both cameras addresses the following changes and improvements:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>When using high-speed or low-speed continuous shooting modes, in Drive Mode with [High Speed Display: OFF], the visibility of the subject within the frame has been improved when shooting moving objects.*<br>*During continuous shooting black frames will be inserted between frames in the viewfinder and live view. This will improve the visibility of moving subjects in live view and in the viewfinder.<\/li><li>Adds the [Auto] setting to the [Viewfinder brightness] menu that will brighten and dim based on ambient light conditions.<\/li><li>Enables 2nd curtain shooting sync during radio transmission wireless flash shooting when the Speedlite EL-1 flash is attached to the camera.<\/li><li>Enables manual flash output (excluding high-speed sync and optical transmission wireless flash shooting) to be selected and set up to 1\/8192 from the camera menu screen when the Speedlite EL-1 flash is attached to the camera.<\/li><li>Improves compatibility of HEIF images recorded in the camera with MIAF (Multi-Image Application Format) standards.<\/li><li>Adds support for AF and release during zoom operations for some RF and EF lenses.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>You can find the firmware download and install details on our <a href=\"https:\/\/rfshooters.com\/cameras\/r5\/firmware\/\" data-wpel-link=\"internal\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Canon R5 firmware<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/rfshooters.com\/cameras\/r6\/firmware\/\" data-wpel-link=\"internal\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Canon R6 firmware<\/a> pages..<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Canon RF 50mm F1.2 L USM<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The Canon RF 50mm F1.2 L USM lens receives version 1.0.5 firmware update that \u2018Reduces image noise when performing high sensitivity shooting with the RF50mm F1.2 L USM lens attached to the EOS C70 camera.
