Canon has announced two new RF lenses, a super compact 70-200 F4 and a tiny nifty fifty F1.8 lens.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

RF 70-200mm F4L IS USM<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The new RF 70-200mm F4L IS USM lens is 32% shorter (when contracrted) and 11% lighter than its very popular EF counterpart. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The lens is just 119mm (4.7″) long and weighs in at a 695g (1.5lbs), making this lens very pack friendly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The build quality is very high as one would expect with an L-series lens, the lens is also weather-sealed. Unfortunately the 70-200 F4 does not support teleconverters or offer a tripod mount.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The image stabilizer can reduce shake by up to five stops, and this improves further to 7.5 stops if attached to an EOS R5 or R6 by working together with in-body image stabilization. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 70-200 features 16 elements in 11 groups, four of which are ‘UD’ (ultra low dispersion) glass that help control chromatic aberration. Canon’s Air Sphere Coating reduces flare and ghosting. The lens’s minimum focus distance is 0.6m (2ft) no matter which focal length you are at. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The focus elements are driven by a pair of Nano USM motors for fast and silent autofocus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

RF 50mm F1.8 STM<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Alongside the 70-200 F4 Canon has also introduced a new RF 50mm F1.8 STM lens. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The lens weights in at only 160g (5.6oz) and is 41mm (1.6″) long. It contains a total of six elements and can focus as close as 0.3m (0.98ft). <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Its control ring can be used for manual focus which is the default setting, or other functions including aperture and exposure compensation. The focus elements are driven by a stepping motor (STM).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There is no in-built stabilization but in-body stabilization can be used with cameras that support it. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
