I tried out the eye control on some garden birds today.
Poor light on some shots.
Not great but it's a start.

Lovely shots Steve! Many of the same visitors that we see in our garden.

Thank you .it was just to try out the eye control on the r3
I was going to ask what body you were using, because all of the Rn bodies have animal (bird) eye tracking, and I've used them all with varying levels of success. The R3? Let's just say the level of tracking is inversely related to the value of 'n', and if the R3 wasn't working for you my first question would have been asked to figure out what you're doing wrong. ;-)

I started with the R5 and went to the R7 to grab some more reach on the 100-500mm and used it with varying degrees of success, but I'm back to the R5 now because it's just stickier and the image quality is just so much better. The R7 can take great pics, but it can miss great ones too. The R3? It's a monster. Just not enough MPs for what I do.

It is nit the eye tracking I was trying.i used that on the r6 & now the r3.
It was the eye control I was trying out

Can I ask what the “eye control” is? I’m familiar with eye tracking but don’t know what eye control is? Thanks

With the canon r3 you can basically control your focus point by moving your eye.
Look it up. Awesome bit of kit
