Our April monthly competition is now open for entries.

=== Please Included Metadata Embedded With Images Submitted ===

This Month's Theme

For this month our theme will be Action. The goal here is to capture the energy, excitement, and speed of a moment. Action can be portrayed by showing subjects in motion, either by freezing the scene with a fast shutter speed or slowing it down to introduce some motion blur. If you need some inspiration then flickr is always useful.

Competition Dates
Entries start: The date that this post is published.
Entries end: April 21st at 3am Eastern Time (9am GMT)
Voting starts: April 21st at 3am Eastern Time (9am GMT)

Protecting the Herd ~ Mule deer chasing off a coyote.

On vacation and I neglected to pack my CF Express card reader, so all I have is OOC jpeg.

This was taken at Disney World with the R50’s ISO and exposure compensation maxed out to enable a high shutter speed with the 2X extender. It’s not a combo I can recommend, but the cheap little camera did better than I thought it would.

An American robin in our backyard trying to pull an earthworm out of the ground. The earthworm was holding on for dear life and getting quite stretched. Eventually the robin was successful.

Well done and thanks to everyone who entered and voted in our action competition this month. Not too many entries but the entries that we have received are definitely top notch!
  • 1st place with 7 votes was @PKM-UK with a very well timed capture of a polar bear about to make a pretty large splash. Great shot Karen and nicely edited Phil!
  • Joint 2nd place with 6 votes was @AOC with a perfectly frozen shot of a horse race just before the finish line.
  • Joint 2nd place with 6 votes was @Nick L with a cracking shot of a fire breathing spitfire.
  • Joint 3rd place with 4 votes was @fordsabroad with a very early morning and perfectly captured shot of a pair of hippos blowing water.
  • Joint 3rd place with 4 votes was @StevenAunan with a very fiery action shot taken at Disney World. Nicely captured Steven!
Of course, it should go without saying but everyone who enters here is a winner here :)

The theme for our competition this month will be Mechanized Machines and this will be kicking off shortly.
