I don't own this lens but did rent it to check it out. That might have been a mistake as I plan on buying it when I can scrap tighter enough funds. It is heavy and cost an arm and a leg but I actually like heavy gear, guess I'm weird. Im not great at writing gear reviews so will leave it at that.- PhotoJim58

They all say this is just a kit lens. I disagree. The lens is fast to focus and renders beautifully. If I could have only one lens to use, this would be it. The zoom range for a walk around lens is pretty much all encompassing. The only negative is that it an f4, not so fast, but with the IBIS...- PhotoJim58

I purchased the lens after I got the R5. Had to wait about 2 1/2 months for it but was worth it. I mainly use it for Birds, Wildlife and Airplanes. Also good for landscapes.
