Went out with new Rf 16 mm F2.8 STM lens
I agree with you on the perspective issues - tilt the camera just a bit from level and everything tilts with it. Wide angle lenses force you to think about foreground, as a great foreground helps to keep the camera level and reduce tilted buildings. -
Other Front Element replacement
If Canon won't repair APS in the Chicago area probably will. I've not dealt with them, but they are highly recommended for Nikon service by Nikon fanatics (as a former Nikon shooter I have read only good reviews about APS). They repair Nikon, Canon and Sony gear and might be worth a phone...- MikeZ

Viewfinder vs Screen
I agree with RedCobra and Kamoshika. View finder (with diopter set for my left, dominant, eye) and the screen for camera/photo settings. -
