Official Canon Batteries
The official battery for the Canon R3 is the Canon LP-E19 battery (10.8V, 2700 mAh). One of these should be included in the box when you purchase your R3 from new.
The older Canon LP-E4N (11.1V, 2450 mAh) is also supported but this does not support in-camera charging with the R3.
Canon LP-E19 Battery Pack
The Canon LP-E19 battery (10.8V, 2700 mAh) is the official battery for the Canon R3.
It’s important to make sure that you use the LC-E19 Battery Charger to to charge the LP-E19 battery. This battery cannot be charged with Battery Charger LC-E4N/LC-E4.
The Canon LP-E19 battery will allow you to take approx.860 shots with the LCD (at 23°C) and 620 shots with the Viewfinder (at 23°C). These shots are based on CIPA standard and if you are shooting continuous bursts you will most likely shoot many more than this.

Canon LP-E4N Battery Pack
The Canon R3 also supports the older Canon LP-E4N (11.1V, 2450 mAh) battery pack, although this has a smaller capacity than the LP-E19.
However, you can not charge the Canon LP-E4N battery pack in the R3 via USB.
It’s also important to note that the older version of this battery the Canon LP-E4 is NOT supported in the R3.

Official Canon Battery Chargers
The Canon R3 should include one Canon LC-E19 Battery Charger in the box when purchased from new.
Canon LC-E19 Battery Charger
The Canon LC-E19 Battery Charger can be used to charge two LP-E19 or LP-E4N batteries. It will also charge the older LP-E4 batteries that are not supported in the R3.
It plugs directly into an AC socket and will charge two LP-E19 batteries in around 170 minutes, whilst the LP-E4N can be charged in around 140 minutes.
It is also compatible with a 100 V AC to 240 V AC 50/60 Hz power sources.

Third-Party Batteries
I would really only recommend to use genuine Canon batteries in your R3, as there is always a risk involved when using third-party batteries.
With a price tag of $5,999.00 the Canon R3 is certainly not a cheap camera, and certainly not a camera worth damaging to save a few dollars by purchasing third-party batteries.
That said, if you still don’t mind taking the risk then these are the better third-party battery options available for the R3.
Watson LP-E19 Battery
When it comes to third-party batteries Watson generally have a pretty good reputation.
The Watson LP-E19 Battery is rated at 10.8V, 3500mAh which gives it a larger capacity than Canon’s own LP-E19 battery.
The Watson LP-E19 is known to work in the R3 but reviews indicate that it doesn’t appear to hold the charge as long as the official Canon LP-E19 battery, despite its larger capacity.

Third-Party Battery Chargers
Just like with the batteries, I do recommend sticking to the official Canon battery chargers at least for the Canon batteries.
For third-party batteries I’d actually recommend using a third-party charger to avoid damaging the official Canon charger.
Watson Duo Battery Charger
The Watson Duo Battery Charger supports charging of the Watson LP-E19, LP-E4, and LP-E4N batteries.
Batteries are charged in sequential order, so when the first battery is fully charged, it starts charging the second battery.
The LEDs indicate the charge level of each battery and the charger protects them from short-circuiting and instantly shuts off if the batteries are overheating.
It can switch power between 100 to 240 VAC, allowing you to use it anywhere in the world.

USB Charging
Only the Canon LP-E19 batteries support in-camera charging via the R3’s USB-C connector, but only with the Canon PD-E1 USB power adapter.
Canon PD-E1 USB Power Adapter
The Canon PD-E1 USB Power Adapter allows you to charge the Canon LP-E19 battery in camera. However, it can not be used to power the camera.
Anker PowerPort III 65W Pod
The Anker PowerPort III 65W Pod has also been verified by Canon to charge and power the R3 via its USB port.
It was verified using an Anker PowerLine III USB-C to USB-C cable (0.9 m), other cables may not work.

Power Banks
You can also used a power bank to either charge or power the R3. It’s important to note that not all power banks will allow you to power the R3 when it’s turned on.
Anker PowerCore III Elite 26K 60W
The Anker PowerCore III Elite 26K 60W is one of the USB power banks that Canon has verified themselves to charge and power the R3 via its USB port.
The massive 25,600 mAh capacity battery will keep your R3 going all day long.
It was only verified using the USB-C cable included with the battery, so other cables may not work.

Hey Tim! how are you?
i was reading your info on the Anker powercore elite to charge my canon R3…i have 2 questions:
you say it was tested with the cable included with the battery..did you mean “power bank” ?? or the cable that came with the R3?
second question..does it keep charging the R3 while shooting?
