Welcome to our ultimate accessories guide for the Canon EOS R10 mirrorless camera.
Whether you are still thinking about purchasing an R10 or waiting on your pre-order to arrive, this guide will help you to find the best accessories to pair with your new R Series camera.
Please note that the Canon R10 has not hit the shelves yet, so the number of accessories are limited, especially third-party accessories like grip extensions and screen protectors.
As soon as additional accessories are announced or confirmed to be supported with the Canon EOS R10 they will be added here.

Screen Protectors
At this time there is no official screen protector for the R10 available from either Canon themselves or third-party suppliers.
I don’t expect there to be a long wait before we see screen protector’s available.
Until we do, you could simply turn the R10’s LCD display inwards when it’s not needed to help protect the screen from knocks.
Memory Cards
The Canon EOS R10 has a single memory card slot. This slot supports both UHS-I and UHS-II SD/SDHC/SDXC memory cards.
UHS-II Memory Cards
If you are shooting at up to 15 FPS with the mechanical shutter or 23 FPS with the electronic shutter then you will want to fastest UHS-II memory cards to ensure that the R10’s buffer clears as quickly as possible.
1. Kingston Canvas React Plus UHS-II
Kingston have been in the memory business since 1987 so it’s safe to say that they know a think or two about memory cards.
The Kingston Canvas React Plus UHS-II are one of their most popular cards and if you check the reviews on B&H Photo and Amazon you’ll find many happy shooters.
This is not only one of the fastest memory cards that you can put in the R10, it’s also one of the most affordable.
- Bus speed: UHS-II
- Video speed class: V90
- Capacities: 32GB (SDHC), 64GB, 128GB, 256GB (SDXC)
- Read speed: 300 MB/s
- Write speed: 260 MB/s
2. SanDisk Extreme Pro UHS-II
I’m sure that you already have a number of SanDisk cards in your gear bag.
The Sandisk Extreme Pro UHS-II cards are fast, reliable and a great match for the Canon R10.
- Bus speed: UHS-II
- Video speed class: V90
- Capacities: 32GB (SDHC), 64GB, 128GB (SDXC)
- Read speed: 300 MB/s
- Write speed: 260 MB/s
UHS-I Memory Cards
If you don’t plan to shoot the R10 at 23 frames per second and prefer landscapes to sports or birds in flight photography, then you will probably be content with the slower UHS-I cards.
1. SanDisk Extreme Pro UHS-I
The SanDisk Extreme Pro UHS-I memory card is shockproof, X-ray proof, waterproof and can also withstand temperatures from -13 to 185°F.
These cards have been tried and tested for many years and continue to receive some of the best reviews out there.
Bus speed: UHS-I
Video speed class: V30
Capacities: 32GB (SDHC), 64GB, 128GB, 256GB,512GB, 1TB (SDXC)
Read speed: 170 MB/s
Write speed: 90 MB/s
2. Kingston Canvas Go! Plus UHS-I
The Kingston Canvas Go Plus UHS-I cards are also protected against water, shock, vibration, x-rays, and temperature extremes.
Typically a little cheaper than Sandisk cards but they offer the same speeds and reliability.
Bus speed: UHS-I
Video speed class: V30
Capacities: 32GB (SDHC), 64GB, 128GB, 256GB, 512GB (SDXC)
Read speed: 170 MB/s
Write speed: 90 MB/s
If you’d like more details on all of the memory cards supported for the R10, then please visit our Canon R10 Memory Card Guide.
Memory Card Readers
If you computer does not have a UHS-II card reader then you’ll need to purchase one if you wish to read images from a UHS-II card.
You can still read UHS-II cards in a UHS-I reader but it will be around 3x slower than using a UHS-II reader.
Sony MRW-S1 UHS-II SD Memory Card Reader
The MRW-S1 card reader uses the USB 3.1 Gen 1 (5 Gb/s) bus. Mac and Windows are both supported and it is backwards compatible with UHS-I memory cards.
Kingston Mobilelite Plus SD Card Reader
The Kingston Mobilelite Plus SD Card Reader also supports USB 3.2 Gen 1 (5 Gb/s). Again both Windows and Mac computers are supported and it is also backwards compatible with UHS-I SD cards.
Apple USB Type-C to SD Card Reader
The Apple USB Type-C to SD Card Reader supports USB 3.1 / 3.2 Gen 1 (5 Gb/s) and is compatible with a variety of notebooks and third-generation iPad Pros. It’s also backwards compatible with UHS-I SD cards.
Batteries
The official supported battery for the Canon R10 is the Canon LP-E17 Lithium-Ion Battery (7.2V, 1040 mAh).
Canon LP-E17
The Canon LP-E17 Lithium-Ion Battery (7.2V, 1040 mAh) is the battery that’s included with the R10 when purchased from new, this is the only battery supported in the R10.
This is the same battery that the Canon RP uses along with other cameras like the M6, M5 and M3 and the Rebel series.
This battery also supports in-camera charging via USB but only when the camera is powered off.
You’ll most likely want at least 3 of these batteries for a full day of photography.
Battery Chargers
The Canon R10 includes one LC-E17 (US) / LC-E17E (Europe) battery charger in the box providing you have purchased it from new.
I only recommend using genuine Canon batteries to power your R10 because there is always a risk involved when using third-party batteries.
If you want to add an additional charger then here are your options.
Canon LC-E17 / LC-E17E Battery Charger
The Canon LC-E17 (US) / LC-E17E (Europe) battery charger can be used to charge a single Canon LP-E17 battery via mains power.
It takes approximately 2 hours to fully charge one Canon LP-E17 battery.
If you would like to charge multiple batteries then you might want to purchase an additional one of these chargers.
Watson Mini Duo Charger
Although I also recommend sticking with the original Canon battery charger, if you still wish to purchase a third-party charger then the Watson Mini Duo Charger is a good choice.
It supports simultaneous charing of two Canon LP-E17 batteries via an included USB adapter.
To fully charge of two Canon LP-E17 batteries will take approximately 5-6 hours.
There’s an LCD screen that displays the charge status and there’s also overcharge, short-circuit, and power surge protection built-in.

USB Charging
You can charge the EOS R10 via USB but only with the official Canon LP-E17 battery, as only these batteries support charging over USB.
Canon PD-E1 USB Power Adapter
The Canon PD-E1 USB Power Adapter is designed to charge the R10’s LP-E17 battery in-camera.
It also supports charging of the LP-E6NH & LP-E6N batteries that are supported in cameras like the R3, R5, R6 and R7.
The LP-E17 battery will only charge when the R10 is powered off.
Multi-Function Shoe Cover
The Canon R10’s multi-function shoe includes electrical contacts that you’ll want to keep dry by ensuring a cover is in place when it’s not in use.
Canon ER-SC2 Multi-Function Shoe Cover
The ER-SC2 is designed to protect the Multi-Function Shoe on the Canon R10 and also the Canon R7.
Keeping this cover in place will help to protect the contact points which could possibly short the camera if they get wet.
You’ll receive one of these with the R10 when purchased new but I’d recommend carrying some spares since they are easy to lose if you make use of the multi-function shoe often.

L-brackets & Grip Extensions
At this time there are no l-brackets or grip extensions available that have been designed specifically for the R10.
Some generic l-brackets and grip extensions will most likely fit the R10, but I won’t be listing them here until I know for sure.
Cages
There are also no cages available just yet for the R10. But I’m sure that SmallRig will probably be the first to develop and ship one not long after the R10 hits the shelves.
Neck & Wrist Straps
The Canon R10 includes the Canon ER-EOSR10 camera strap in the box. However, personally I’ve never found the included straps to be the most comfortable.
There are lots of straps to choose from but my personal favorite are the Peak Design Straps which are very well made and highly reviewed.
Peak Design Slide & Slide Lite
The Peak Design Slide and Slide Lite can be worn as a sling, neck, or shoulder strap. The seatbelt-style nylon webbing has a smooth side that glides over clothing in sling mode and a grippy side that prevents slipping in shoulder mode.
The dual adjusters allow you to quickly adjust the length of the strap and Peak Designs Anchor system allows you to securely and quickly connect the strap to the R10.
The Slide measures 45 mm (1.8″) in width, has a max length of: 145 cm (57″) and a min length of: 99 cm (39″). Each Anchor holds over 200lbs (90kg).
The Slide Lite measures 32 mm (1.3″) in width, has a max length of: 145 cm (57″) and a min length of: 99 cm (39″). Each Anchor holds over 200lbs (90kg).
Both the Slide and Slide Lite are available in black, ash, midnight and sage colors.
The Slide Lite is my favorite of the two straps and well suited to a small mirrorless camera like the R10.
If you do purchase one of these straps then you might find this setup guide helpful.

Peak Design Cuff
Just like the Slide and the Slide Lite straps, the Peak Design Cuff also makes use of Peak Design’s awesome anchor system that allows you to quickly swap between both Slide and Cuff.
The cuff strap magnetically locks into place on your wrist. This does take a little while to get used to but once you do it’s very easy to put the cuff on, secure it and remove it again.

Cases & Bags
If you are anything like me then you have probably owned more camera bags than your wife owns handbags!
There are so many bags to choose from to carry your R10 it’s hard to know where to start, so I’m going to keep it very simple and just recommend a few of the most popular bags.
For a much larger selection of bags just head over to B&H Photo where you’ll find an extensive collection.
MindShift Backlight 18L
Available in black or green, the MindShift Backlight 18L make for a great lightweight day pack.
This is my current day pack when I want to keep things as light as possible.
It’s one of the most comfortable bags that I’ve owned and also includes a waterproof cover for when the heavens open.
It is however missing a hydration compartment if this is important to you.
Key Features
- Available in both black and woodland green
- Back-panel access without taking the bag off
- Dedicated compartment fits up to a 13” laptop and full size tablet
- Front pockets totalling 5L

Tenba AXIS 24L Backpack
The Tenba AXIS 24L Backpack is a bag that has been on my wishlist for a little while now.
If it wasn’t for already owning the excellent MindShift Backlight 18L above then I would have purchased this already.
It’s super sleek and thankfully does not scream: “lots of expensive camera gear inside!” please rob me.
Key Features
- Adjustable to fit your height and comes with a removable hip belt.
- 3-point camera access system.
- Fits up to 17″ Macbook Pro.
- Waterproof hydrophobic exterior.
- MOLLE webbing allows limitless expandability with Tenba Tools, such as Lens Capsules, Battery Pouches and Memory Card Wallets.
More details and additional product photos can be found on Tenba’s website.
Lowepro Flipside 300 AW III
The Lowepro Flipside 300 AW III is now in its third iteration so I think that says a lot about how popular this bag is.
I don’t own this bag myself but certainly wouldn’t hesitate to buy one based on the positive reviews.
Key Features
- Holds R10 and 3-4 lenses & accessories
- Fits a 13″ laptop & 10″ tablet
- Removable padded pocket insert
- Rear zipper opening for maximum security
- Water & wear resistant exterior
- Interior & exterior pockets & straps
- Adjustable contoured backpack straps
- Chest strap & removable waist belt
- All-weather rain cover
Lowepro ProTactic BP 450 AW II
With over 200 mostly positive reviews on B&H Photo it would be rude not to take a closer look at the Lowepro ProTactic BP 450 AW II.
Key Features
- Comfortably holds the R10 and 1-6 lenses and accessories
- Fits a 15″ Laptop
- Tripod attachment
- Built-In rain cover
- ActivZone system harness
- Removable waist belt
Remote Controls
If you wish to control your R10 from a distance then you have a few options available.
Canon Camera Connect App
Canon’s Camera Connect App won’t require you to spend a single dollar.
Version 2.9.10 or newer is required to support the Canon R10.
Here are the download links from the Apple and Android stores:
Once the app is installed you will be able to transfer and save R10 images to your smartphone and also shoot remotely with the help of a live view image on your smartphone.
You will also be able to use your phone’s positioning data and add location information to your images for smart cataloguing and captioning later.
You should also be able to use the app to easily update the firmware for your R10 and also your RF lenses, but this is still to be confirmed.
Canon BR-E1 Wireless Remote Control
If you don’t want to use your smartphone then the Canon BR-E1 bluetooth remote will let you remotely control your R10 from up to around 5 meters away.
It works in single shot mode, 2-second delay single shot, and movie mode), but unfortunately does not support continuous shooting mode.
You’ll find a shutter release button on the remote along with focus and zoom controls.
Canon TC-80N3 Timer Remote Control
If you like shooting time-lapses then the Canon TC-80N3 will allow you to accurately time exposures and shutter speed from 1 second to 99 hours, 59 minutes and 59 seconds, in one second increments.
There’s an LCD display and an 2.6 ft / 80 cm cable.
Please note that you will require the Canon RA-E3 Remote Controller Adapter in order to use the Canon TC-80N3 with the R10.

Canon RA-E3 Remote Controller Adapter
The Canon RA-E3 adapter enables the use of remote control accessories like the Timer Remote Controller TC-80N3 with the R10 via its E3 (mini-jack).
Canon HG-100TBR Tripod Grip
If you are looking for a portable and convenient grip for the R10 then look no further than the Canon HG-100TBR Tripod Grip.
It features a rotating and tilting head that can be locked into different positions at given angles.
It also comes bundled together with the Canon BR-E1 wireless remote control for controlling the R10’s shutter, zoom, movie recording and AF from up to 5 meters away.
It’s not recommended to use this grip when the total weight of the R10 including lens and accessories mounted exceeds 1 kg (approx. 35.3 oz.) in weight.
Flashes & Triggers
The Canon R10 does feature a small built-in flash, giving you a little more light when you need it. But if that’s not powerful enough for you then you’ll want to add an external flash.
There are third-party flashes and triggers available, but until I know that they are supported and working with the R10 they won’t be added here.
Canon lists the following flashes as supported with the R10:
Canon Speedlite (EL-1*, EL-100, 90EX, 220EX, 270EX, 270EX II, 320EX, 380EX, 420EX, 430EX, 430EX II, 430EX III 470EX-AI, 550EX, 580EX*, 580EX II*, 600EX*, 600EX-RT*, 600EX-II-RT*, Macro-Ring-Lite MR-14EX, Macro Ring Lite MR-14EX II, Macro Twin Lite MT-24EX, Macro Twin Lite MT-26EX-RT, Speedlite Transmitter ST-E2, Speedlite Transmitter ST-E3-RT*, Speedlite Transmitter ST-E3-RT V2*, Speedlite Transmitter ST- E10, Off-Camera Shoe Cord OC-E3*)
*Must use Multi-Function Shoe Adapter AD-E1 to retain weather sealing
Canon ST-E10 Speedlite Transmitter
The Canon ST-E10 Speedlite Transmitter is designed for the new multi-function shoe of the Canon R10.
The transmitter allows you to control 15 Speedlites at up to 30 meters inside or outside.
The 2.4 GHz radio frequency triggering operates reliably and supports wireless second-curtain sync and permits power levels down to 1/8192.
The ST-E10 is sealed against dust and moisture for the most challenging of shooting conditions.
The MENU button on the transmitter brings up the Speedlite settings menu on the R10’s LCD, allowing you to configure and adjust your settings quickly.
Canon AD-E1 Multi-function Shoe Adapter
The Canon AD-E1 Multi-function Shoe Adapter converts conventional hot-shoe Speedlites with a weather-sealed foot to camera like the R10 that feature the multi-function shoe. Whilst still maintaining dust and weather resistance.
Microphones
A
The R10 does include a small microphone built-in but if you are serious about audio then you will want to use an external mic.
There are lots of external microphone options available for the R10, here are just a few that I recommend.
Canon Directional Stereo Microphone DM-E1D
The Canon DM-E1D Stereo Microphone makes full use of the R10’s multi-function shoe. It requires no cables or batteries and provides a reliable, digital connection.
There’s a menu button on the microphone itself that when pressed brings up a menu on the R10 that allows you to take audio adjustments and change the settings.
The microphone supports three modes of directional pick-up, allowing you to switch between shotgun (monaural), 90° or 120° stereo for different sized spaces.

Rode VideoMic Pro R
If you don’t a cabled mic or replacing the battery now and again, then the Rode VideoMic Pro R is a great choice and also one of my personal favourite external microphones.
It connects to the R10 using the 3.5mm mini plug and delivers a dual mono signal.
There’s a windshield included to help reduce wind noise, however I really struggled with fitting this shield to my own Rode Video Mic until I found the following very helpful video:

Rode Wireless Go II Single
The Rode Wireless GO II single can transmit crystal clear audio at up to 200m / 656 feet distance (line of sight) with 128-bit encryption. It also supports an additional transmitter so that it can be used by two people at the same time.
Its compact design offers a simple receiver and transmitter with microphone built in. You simply clip the transmitter-microphone to your subject then attach the receiver to the hotshoe of the R10 and then connect the short cable to the 3.5mm mic input.
The Wireless Go II also features on-board recording allowing you to record over 40 hours of audio to the internal memory.
The rechargeable battery will last up to around seven hours and both transmitter and receiver can be fully charged via USB-C in just two hours.
It also features a 3.5mm TRS powered port to support a lavalier microphone like the Rode Lavalier GO (B&H Photo).
I use the previous version of this microphone myself for recording YouTube videos. I prefer it to the shotgun microphones because there is very little reverb when using it indoors. I use it together with the Rode Lavalier GO because I find it’s more comfortable when clipped to a shirt.
GPS Receivers
GPS receivers allow you to automatically add your location to your images and video as EXIF data whilst you shoot.
If you don’t want to purchase a GPS receiver then you could also use the Canon Camera Connect App to do the same thing and save yourself a few dollars.
Canon GP-E2 GPS Receiver
The Canon GP-E2 GPS Receiver connects to the Canon EOS R10’s hotshoe to record location information. The information recorded includes: longitude, latitude, elevation, direction, and Universal Coordinated Time (UTC). This information is then stored as EXIF information in your images.
Lens Adapters
If you want to adapt your older EF and EF-S lenses or lenses from another mount type to the RF mount of the R10, then you’ll need to use a lens adapter.
Canon EF-Mount to RF-Mount Lens Adapters
Here are the official EF to RF lens adapters from Canon. These can be used to adapt both EF and EF-S lenses.

Nikon F-Mount to Canon RF-Mount
If you are a Nikon shooter moving over to Canon RF and would still like to use some of your old lenses, then Metabones have an adapter for you.
Metabones Nikon G Lens to Canon RF-mount Camera T Adapter
The Metabones adapter will allow you to use your Nikon F-mount lenses on the RF-mount of the Canon R10.
It has a detachable Arca-type compatible tripod foot to make it easier for mounting your camera/lens to a compatible tripod.
It is important to note that automatic functions such as autofocus and electronic aperture control are not supported since there are no electronic contacts. So its manual only I’m afraid.

Eyecups
Unfortunately Canon does not currently offer a larger eyecup for the R10 like they do for the R3.
But hopefully we won’t need to wait too long for third-party companies like Hoodman USA to design and ship a larger and typically more comfortable eyecup for the R10.
Cables
If you want to connect your R10 to your computer to transfer images or use it as a webcam, then you will need a cable that’s compatible with both the R10 and your computers port.
Canon IFC-100U Interface Cable
The Canon IFC-100U Interface Cable is a 39.4″ long cable designed for connecting the R10’s USB Type-C port to a device or computer with a USB Type-C port.

Replacement Parts
Here are a few replacement parts for the R10.
Canon R-F-5 Camera Body Cover Cap
The RF-5 Camera Body Cover Cap is a protective body cap for the R10 to protect the image sensor when a lens is not attached.
One of these will be included when you purchase the R10 from new, but it certainly doesn’t hurt to carry a spare or two..
Cleaning
If you spend $979 on the Canon R10 then hopefully you will want to keep it in good condition to maintain as much of its value as possible, just in case you decide to sell it in the future.
Here are some of the cleaning accessories that I recommend to help keep your R10 in top condition.
Photographic Solutions Type 2 Sensor Swab Ultra (12-Pack, 17mm)
The Canon R10 has a 22.2 x 14.8 mm APS-C sensor, so the 17mm sensor swabs in this pack are a good fit.
Giottos AA1900 Rocket Air Blaster Large
The Giottos rocket air blaster is the one accessory that is always in my camera bag.
It’s a very useful tool for blowing dust off the R10’s sensor, body, lenses and also filters.
Zeiss Cleaning Wipes
These cleaning wipes from Zeiss are perfect for removing dirt and fingerprints from your R10, lenses and also filters.
They can also be used for cleaning glasses, mobile devices and laptop screens. I even use them on my 65″ TV, although they are a little small for that job.
MagicFiber Microfiber Cleaning Cloths
These microfiber cleaning cloths are perfect for polishing your gear after making use of the Zeiss cleaning wipes.
I do hope that you have found this accessory guide helpful.
