Official Canon Batteries
The official battery for the Canon R10 is the Canon LP-E17 Lithium-Ion Battery (7.2V, 1040 mAh). You will find one of these in the box providing you have purchased the R10 from new.
Canon LP-E17
The Canon LP-E17 Lithium-Ion Battery (7.2V, 1040 mAh) is the battery that’s included with the R10 when purchased from new, this is the only battery supported in the R10.
This is the same battery that the Canon RP uses along with other cameras like the M6, M5 and M3 and the Rebel series.
This battery also supports in-camera charging via USB but only when the camera is powered off.
You’ll most likely want at least 3 of these batteries for a full day of photography.
Official Canon Battery Chargers
The Canon R10 includes one LC-E17 (US) / LC-E17E (Europe) battery charger in the box providing you have purchased it from new.
Canon LC-E17 / LC-E17E Battery Charger
The Canon LC-E17 (US) / LC-E17E (Europe) battery charger can be used to charge a single Canon LP-E17 battery via mains power.
It takes approximately 2 hours to fully charge one Canon LP-E17 battery.
If you would like to charge multiple batteries then you might want to purchase an additional one of these chargers.
Third-Party Batteries
I only recommend using genuine Canon batteries to power your R10 because there is always a risk involved when using third-party batteries.
As far as I am aware, there are currently no third-party Canon LP-E17 batteries available. I have seen batteries from Neewer and Wasabi in the past, but these appear to have been discontinued.
If I hear about any new third party batteries I will add them here as soon as they have been tested in the R10.
Third-Party Battery Chargers
Like with the batteries, I really recommend sticking with the official Canon battery chargers, but if you don’t mind taking a risk then here are your third-party options.
Watson Mini Duo Charger
The Watson Mini Duo Charger supports simultaneous charing of two Canon LP-E17 batteries via an included USB adapter.
To fully charge of two Canon LP-E17 batteries will take approximately 5-6 hours.
There’s an LCD screen that displays the charge status and there’s also overcharge, short-circuit, and power surge protection built-in.

USB Charging
Canon PD-E1 USB Power Adapter
With the Canon USB Power Adapter PD-E1, in-camera charging of the R10’s LP-E17 battery is supported when the camera is turned off.
If you turn the R10 on then the PD-E1 will now power the camera but the battery will stop charging until the camera is powered off.
Battery Grip
Unfortunately there is no official battery grip from Canon or third-parties available for the R10 right now and there was no mention of a battery grip when the R10 was announced.
Hopefully if we don’t see an official battery grip from Canon then we might see a third-party grip come to market later this year.
