The latest version of the firmware for the Canon EOS Ra is now version 1.8.0
What’s New in Firmware Version 1.8.0
Firmware Version 1.8.0 incorporates the following enhancements and fixes:
- Improves color balance when the RF50mm F1.8 STM lens is attached to the EOS Ra camera.
- Support has been added for the following lenses:
- RF70-200mm F2.8 L IS USM
- RF100-500mm F4.5-7.1 L IS USM
Firmware Download
You can download the latest firmware from your local Canon support website. The below links will take you to the correct page to download the firmware. Make sure that you download the correct firmware for your computer (Windows or Mac).
How to Install the Firmware
Updating the firmware for the Canon Ra is a very straight forward and painless process, especially compared to Sony firmware installs.

There are two methods described in this guide, I’d recommend using the card reader in your camera.
Previous Firmware Versions
Improvements from previous firmware versions are always included in the latest firmware version. So even if you have missed a couple of firmware versions, you only ever need to install the latest version.

- RF600mm F11 IS STM
- RF800mm F11 IS STM
- EXTENDER RF1.4×
- EXTENDER RF2×
- The operation of playing back through the multi-function bar has been improved.
- Support for the Battery Pack LP-E6NH has been added.
Changes in version 1.6.0
- Support for the RF85mm F1.2L USM DS lens has been added.
- Incorporate the function of EOS R firmware version 1.4.0.
