I’m getting contradictory info regarding the lenses that are compatible with the RF 1.4x extender. Some sources say the extender is not compatible with the Canon 200-800mm RF lens while others say the two are compatible. Here’s what I found on Amazon:
The Canon Extender RF 1.4x is compatible with only three specific Canon RF lenses:
RF 100-500mm F4.5-7.1 L IS USM
RF 600mm F11 IS STM
RF 800mm F11 IS STM
Am I missing something?
I have a couple of Canon R7 cameras.
Hi David. I wouldn’t go off what the Amazon description says, it probably hasn’t been updated since any of the latest lenses were released. If you visit the 1.4x Extender Page on Canon’s website there is a list of compatible lenses which includes the 200-800. One of our forum members has also posted some shots of the 1.4x on their RF 200-800.
Hi Timothy.
Will these extenders not work with the Canon RF 100mm F2.8 L Macro IS USM?
I still use my old MPE-65mm attached to my the old EOS body when I want to fill the frame with a tiny 2mm creature, but that is hard work and I love the ease with which I can get good shots with no real effort using the combination I have in the EOS R7 and the RF 100mm F2.8 which gives something quite a bit over 1:1 macro. I am not sure exactly what it is, but I can either get the shot or switch to my old set up.
Anyhow I babbling away, when all I want is to know if it will work with the R7 and the RF 100mm lens.
Hi Derek. Unfortunately both the 1.4x and 2x extenders are not compatible with the Canon RF 100mm F2.8 L Macro lens. If you are looking to increase the magnification then it might be worth looking at the Laowa 100mm f/2.8 2x Ultra Macro APO which is available in RF-mount, but it is manual focus only.
