I achieved a better result with my R5 and RF 100-500 than I ever managed with the 1DX2 and an EF 70-200f2.8.
The AF eye detect just refused to lock on to anything though so I was using large single point.
That is a fine shot. I guess it is time for Canon to work on insect eye recognition in addition to people, birds and cars. In all honesty, I suspect that we may be seeing something like that in the future. The autofocus progress in recent years has been amazing. Your image is shown as 2608 pixels wide. Is that as a result of cropping (from 8192 x 5464?) or reduction from the larger original? This strikes me as the kind of shot that would be good for the new R7.

Thank you! The shot has been cropped, I could have moved closer perhaps as the lens was fully extended or had I had time, which I didn't, add the 1.4TC or even use the1.6 mode in camera but there is enough room to crop and still get a decent sized image .
In terms of eye detection, I don't expect that to work on such a small subject but I thought it would have locked on to the whole moth but instead it was grabbing the valerian plant which was very well lit by the sun.
