Fantastic detail. Crane fly maybe? I've never seen one so close up and personal to tell. LOL
 
Thank you! You are correct! It is a Crane fly. I never would have guessed. I have never seen one close up before.

They're hard on laws in their larval stage, but they eat mosquitos, so they're okay in my book! My (adult) son is deathly afraid of them, though. He'll remove any and all spiders, but run screaming like a little girl from a harmless crane fly! 😂

I guess they are pretty good if they eat mosquitos but I prefer not to touch one so I empathize with your son. Fun to take pictures of though.
