I recently bought the same lens. I have found it difficult to get an insect in sharp focus. I can manage part of the insect but not the whole of one like your picture. Excellent.

Thank you , this was taken at Iso 800 F6.3 and 1/320s if that helps

Correction. I thought you had a RF100mm, that's what I have. Maybe the 100 using macro is more difficult to get decent DOF compared to your lens

It was shot with the RF100mm Macro 2.8 lens
 
Just re-read. I mistook ISO 800 as 800mm. My dyslexia kicking in

I'm more impressed now I know . How many frames taken before you were satisfied?

About 3 I think
 
Also, it's a Hoverfly, not a wasp. They have evolved to mimic a wasp so other critters leave it alone.
