How cool to have captured a picture of yourself in the helicopter! I never would have thought 1/80 sec would give such a clear shot of a helicopter in flight.
Actually, that is not me but a friend and company pilot. I was taking the picture. You can tell us apart because I'm taller (;-> The shutter speed needs to be low to achieve a reasonable amount of blade blur. Tracking the movement is a necessary skill to capture a sharp photo with slower shutter speeds. You can see that the lighting poles in the background are blurred because of the tracking. To achieve a fully blurred rotor disk can often require a shutter speed of a 20th of a second.
