I didn't know pelicans went so far inland.

Are you content with the 600 for bird photography. I’m considering getting one, but I’m nervous about the slooow f/11. Love to hear your experience.

I am pretty content with the 600mm. I have set up a Custom Function specifically for using this lens. The mode is Manual, the f-stop is, of course, f11, the shutter speed is 1/1250 sec, and the ISO is set on Auto. Since the new cameras handle the high ISO's so well this has worked out for me. I sometimes wish I had gone ahead and bought the 800mm.. I am experimenting with the 1.6 crop factor in the camera to see if it is any improvement over just cropping in Lightroom.

I think I’ll rent one from LensRentals.com (highly recommended for US photographers, by the way, based in Tennessee).

I’m in a high part of Northwest Connecticut where it is barely spring, so I’ll have to wait a few weeks. Thanks Jim Jax for the info.
