Looking for a new 27" monitor

So I am looking to replace my old NEC monitor, and sadly NEC sold out to Samsung and no longer makes quality monitors for image production. I just bought a new computer from Puget Systems and looked through their options, most of which seem out dated. The only one that comes within my very...

DxO Pure Raw is pure magic at times

The joy and agony of auto ISO. Took this image of a puffin flying back to the "rock" at Elliston Puffin site at the end of the day. as you can see from the exif the ISO was 25,600. I was going to toss it but thought maybe I'd just try and see if I could salvage it with pure raw. I have the...

Seascape  Late Day Iceberg at Twillingate

We were very lucky to see a few close-in Icebergs at Twillingate while we were there. Apparently they had been one very large berg up until a few days before we got there. This is the bigger of the two pieces. I had thought that we would need to take a boat to see them but was really...

    Other  Some more abstracts

These are from my trip to NYC in May. All were taken of a wall in a Thai restaurant. Some were done in camera, and some were done in Photoshop.

    Trip to a butterfly garden

Well, it's still wicked cold and windy here,so we visited a butterfly garden last weekend. I was surprised they were open so early in the season but it was a welcome surprise. Some images. All were taken at ISO over 1250, some at 6400 I added that information/ DXO Pure Raw has been amazing...

Just a fun little shot I took on a walk when I was away in New Hampshire. I find it hard to resist backlight.

Another with the Soft Focus ii

Another one of the now 9 day old roses bought from the Trader Joe's store. I'm surprised that they have lasted this long and look this good.

Playing with the new lensbaby soft focus ii

Just received the soft focus II Lensbaby. And I had some roses I had gotten at Trader Joes so it was a good time to try it out. This is at the widest open aperture.

I think I killed my flash - help? (please move this where it should be if needed)

I've been working on my submerged flower series in the studio lately. To achieve the lighting effect, I use my older 580EX flash to bounce light off a reflector and a (gasp) non-Canon flash for frontal light, both fired with a Godox trigger and receivers. Today, near the end of the shoot, my...

Cityscape  Happy 4th of July from New England

A few shots from the July 2nd fireworks over Boston Harbor. We had a near-perfect night. Few clouds and a slight wind from the south. Kept the smoke blowing away from us.

A little bit of abstract Macro

Our camera club had a macro workshop this past weekend and there were some fun setups there for abstracts. One of these is from a still life set up (the b&w) and the color was using a computer screen to project the image.

Can you put a .CR3 file BACK onto a card and have the camera read it?

Hi all, long time no be here, not been doing much photography until lately. I hope everyone is doing well! I had a question, I am working with a friend on multiple exposures - she wants to use an image that she has taken before and is on the computer back onto the card to use it as a base...

a small scene, I think it's landscape, but I suppose it could be a closeup

From Autumn this year up in the White Mountains of New Hampshire. The color peaked much later than normal, and we were up there just before Indigenous Peoples Day so it wasn't at its best. But we did get some good photos.
