Mammals Whale watching in Maui

January is the best month to whale watch in Hawaii because it is peak mating season. We have always done it with Pacific Whale Foundation in Maui. They are a non-profit organization dedicated to improving research and conditions for whales especially, but all marine mammals and other marine life. The first picture is a competition group. It is a group of males beating on each other to win the ability to mate with a female. We saw at least 15 full breaches from this group. I got 10 pictures but am only showing what I think are the 2 best.

Wow!! Congrats, absolutely stunning images! We've been after the whales in Iceland and Norway, but obviously need to head down to Hawaii

I missed a breach shot just like that about 20 years ago off the coast of Oahu. My point and shoot digital just could not focus. The passenger next to me had beautiful ones on his Canon 10D. 2 weeks later, I owned a 10D. Now many camera versions later, costs too much to get back to Oahu.
