Photography Challenge - Motion Blur

A big thanks to everyone who joined in with the macro / close-up photography challenge last month.

So for this month I thought we could see how people get on with a motion blur challenge.

This is not a competition so there will be no winners announced, it's purely for fun and self-development.

Canon R Series cameras only please
Post as many times as you would like

Done a few motion blur shots albeit with my 5D4 so they don’t count! Got a long distance panning shot taken with The R5 and 100-500 at Goodwood. Not perfect but I quite like it.

Freezing motion is one of the 1st camera effects I learned. But, I never thought I’d catch a hummingbird wearing shoes though, lol ... got to appreciate real motion blur!

When composing the post you can add text both above or below the image. It's a nice shot but would be even better if the bike/rider was a little sharper. With 1/40 it's always going to be tricky to get many keepers but it's always fun trying

It depends on the speed of the rider but 1/125 will normally provide a good number of keepers and still blur the background, just not so great in slow corners. I'm not sure what focus area you are using but sometimes with panning it's easier to use a single point instead of a larger area, then just place that point on the rider and try to make sure it stays with them as you pan. Also mode 2 on the lens if you are not already using this.

This was with my R and RF 100-500 in 2020. I ordered the lens and R5 and the lens came first.

First and only attempt at Motion Blur using PS.
The verbiage in the back ground is blurred due to focal length and not post processing. There are a few things I would change like the keeping the sharpness of the shadow at the front of the car.... re-edit the wheels....

The goal was sharp head and brilliant eye and blur everything else. Closeness counts. They were buzzing the neighbors flowers. EOS-R & 100-400L II + 1.4X III. Shot at f/8, 1/250, ISO 400 @ 560mm.

And another that fits. Same day, same spot..
