Spent the day down along the Gulf Coast of Texas. Drove to Galveston and took the ferry to Bolivar and then went to the Bolivar Flats Bird Sanctuary. Mostly saw royal terns, some plovers that I have not yet properly identified and some Willets and American Avocets. The terns were doing some kind of mating play, the male hoping on the females back or sharing a piece of fish. Nice day and these were all shot with the Canon R and RF 800mm f/11 lens and a few with a Canon R7 and Tamron 18-400mm lens.

Those little ones look a lot like the sanderlings I captured and I think I identified correctly (but little stints was a very close second).

Agreed. Sanderlings.

Just saw the thread title in a "similar threads" list and had to take a look. I spent the first half of my like on the Texas coast , and I remember Bolivar Flats well.

I especially like the 4th shot (5125). Great capture of Sandwich Terns engaged in courtship feeding. If she accepts his offer they're engaged.

Fast, sharp, and lightweight! A great lens
This is my main workhorse of a lens and I love it. It's very light weight (only around 2.3 lbs) lens. I've been able to hand-hold it for an event...

    Fantastic sport camera
This camera is FANTASTIC. I'm a dog sports shooter, so very fast indoor action with a lot of obstacles to shoot in and around. This camera does a...

A good lens for what it does, with it's drawbacks
I have had this lens since it came out and it is my lightweight go to lens for walking around in the city and using my infrared-converted camera...
