It looks like an overcast day resulting in lower contrast. I wonder if you tried to add a tad more contrast, especially on the foliage? If you try, a tiny bit more sharpening may be interesting to see. Lovely gardens.

I've been to UBC once for taikai but I didn't know they had such garden. Looks nice. I bet it's popular spot for photo shoot, especially some Asian style weddings.
