Of the numerous Youtube channels I’ve watched, a surprising number of them are from the UK. They always pronounce “Nikon” as “Nickon”.
Here in the states, I’ve always heard “NY-con”. (And Paul Simon can’t be wrong, right?).
I’ve always wondered which pronunciation is correct.
Today, through the magic of the Al Gore Rhythm, a video came up in my playlist where a Japanese woman was talking about “Brand names Americans mispronounce”. There in the thumbnail was the familiar black and yellow logo. I dove in.
The answer? We’re BOTH wrong - It’s “Knee-con”!
