I was down at the park looking for birds to photograph when this big bird flew over on it's approach to the nearby airport. This is cropped a bit from the original but not by much.
The RF 200–800 has become my go-to lens for birding.
It's not as compact as the RF 100–500 (is anything with comparable image quality?), but it is light and easily manageable. In an odd way my subject was too close for comfort, but zooming ‘out’ to 500mm didn’t leave me regretting not having the more compact, and faster, lens with me.
This dapper fella walked straight past me as if I were not there: perfect! It’s time to revisit that special subtropical beach on King Island (Moreton Bay, Brisbane).
