Just got camera back from repairs.

At rodeo last night mechanical high speed continuous push shutter a run of images 4 or 5 seconds.

Then after a while shutter wouldn't turn off once released another 7 or 8 images before it stopped happened all night

Servo mode 70/200 not that lens matters

Was problem identified and solved?

I did search couldn’t find it

Cheers chaps

Yes, there have been multiple user reports of the Canon EOS R6 Mark II experiencing a "stuck shutter" or "runaway shutter" issue
, where the camera continues to shoot in high-speed continuous mode even after the user has released the shutter button.
Here is a breakdown of the issue, known symptoms, and potential solutions based on user reports:
Key Details on the R6 II Shutter Issue:
  • Behavior: The camera shoots a long burst (10–15+ frames) or sometimes, in extreme cases, until the battery is removed.
  • When it happens: It often occurs in high-speed continuous shooting (especially H+ Electronic or Mechanical) when using back-button focus (BBF).
  • "False" Triggering: Sometimes, the camera appears to be firing (making the clicking noise) but is not actually recording new images to the memory card.
  • Not Universal: While reported by several users, this does not appear to be a problem with every single R6 II unit.
Potential Causes and Fixes:
  • Firmware: Many, but not all, users have found that updating the camera's firmware to the latest version (v1.4.0 or newer) resolves or reduces the frequency of this issue.
  • Memory Card Speed: Some users have suspected slow SD cards, specifically when using V60 or lower-rated cards at 40fps (electronic) or 12fps (mechanical). Switching to faster UHS-II V90 cards has helped some users clear the buffer faster and avoid the "runaway" effect.
  • Settings Reset: Resetting the camera to factory settings and reconfiguring custom functions has been suggested to fix potential configuration conflicts.
  • Battery Type: Some users noted issues when using older LP-E6 batteries instead of the recommended LP-E6NH or LP-E6P, especially for high-speed shooting.
  • Service Requirement: In cases where software/settings tweaks did not work, users reported that sending the camera to Canon for service resulted in them replacing the shutter mechanism or the motherboard.
If you are experiencing this, ensure your firmware is updated to the latest version, check your SD card speed, and if the problem persists, contact Canon support.
