It was entertaining observing this female kestrel hunting for insects and voles right by the trail.
American Kestrels are typically very shy, so it was a treat to observe this tolerant individual who was unperturbed by passing horses, dogs, and walkers.
The yellow Oxalis blooms in the background contrasted nicely with her brick red coloration, making for a pleasing color palette.
