Don't know about the UK but here in the states it's as popular for decorations as Christmas is! And those big lawn decorations aren't cheap!

I think the tradition has fallen away somewhat from when I was a kid (eons ago) and there is a subdued evening of trick or treating - so much less than it once was. Kids of today are out smoking and generally being less friendly!
