My first air show, all can say “it was awesome” if you ever have the chance, go go go ….this show was held under very very challenging lighting, everything from bright blue skys to heavy overcast and rain, often the same time within my field of view.
The R5 was fine, but I can’t help to thing that the R3 would have performed better on the low passes when they were darting between trees and other obstructions.

The longest lenses I own is the 300 f2.8, my shooting position required at least a 500, I wish I had something with more reach.

I chose to bring the R5, knowing I would probably be forced to perform some heavy cropping-which I did in some cases.

Enjoy, Mark

Nice, all are solid, but I really like the one with the C-130. I'm a sucker for airshow photos that contextualize the aircraft with interesting elements from the ground or even the broader sky, if it's a dynamic one.

A good lens for what it does, with it's drawbacks
I have had this lens since it came out and it is my lightweight go to lens for walking around in the city and using my infrared-converted camera...
