Hi,

I've no idea what this is supposed to do, but when I turn it nothing appears to happen, I noticed this when I thought I'd try something I saw on using focus peaking and expected to see focus change when set to focus on the lens, but nothing.

Again, no doubt doing something wrong.

...I wonder if theres a factory reset on the camera somewhere

Solution
John…

You'll need to go into the purple AF menu and make the following two changes:
  1. FOCUS MODE : Change to MF (This is probably the solution!)
  2. MF PEAKING : ON (I assume this is already set.)
I hope this fixes the problem without getting you into trouble with other lenses.

Outstanding, you're a genius - now to figure out my joystick AF point issue, and I'll be well happy.

Anyway, thank you so very much - embarrassingly obvious :D

I wonder whether this quirkiness — related to using the same lens ring for both focus, and control of something else (aperture in the case of my nifty-fifty) — extends to other RF lenses.

Looking at you, RF 200–800!

Good question - I had expected AF + Manual override if I used the electronic ring as focus, but if this is how it is then at least its usable.
