Still getting used to my new RF 800mm f/11 as well as some of the features of the R7 like the eye tracking, etc. There's a park not far from me with a long elevated boardwalk along a lagoon on the San Jacinto River. Sun came out after a windy rainy night so I headed down to shoot. I ended up using my monopod as sitting for long periods being on the ready wasn't going to work, the lens is light enough but one's forearm does get tired.
Overall another happy adventure, mostly ducks and I believe a mix of mallards and some local mottled ducks. I used the Audubon app on my phone to call them closer. A few herons and egrets also.
I'm not too bothered by the limited focus area with this lens, basically a square within the frame. Since I was using a monopod I shot only horizontally, might be more challenging for a tight vertical shot.
