Looks pretty close to the Canon EOS M. It took off with a bang and then faded away. So now Canon introduces the Canon R50 V. An entry level camera, Wow. Not for professional use.
I had the EOS M2, but it was too slow and too small for my hands, so I migrated to the R series. I want to trade my R7 for a different second body, and have been considering the R8. But the R50 V looks interesting now that I have the Weebill 3E gimbal and I'm experimenting with video. It weighs less, records for 2 hours, takes all the lenses I have, and is $650 less than the R8. It's not professional grade, and it won't replace my R5m2, but it could be the right tool for the right job.
Only time I make video clips is with my phone. I agree, it looks a lot like the original Canon M which I got for travel when I needed to go light weight. Moved up over the years and still have 2 M5 bodies with one converted for infrared. I got the M6 MKII as they were being discontinued but got high marks. I still use the M cameras for everyday stuff, family parties, walks with my dog at the park. The R7 and R6 MKII are more for my action or landscape photos.
