Aviation Battle of Britain Memorial Flight and Eurofighter Typhoon

These were taken at the Bournemouth airshow from a boat anchored opposite the town beyond the marine exclusion zone which is established under the display line. The advantage of shooting from a boat is that the light is in a much better place (the beach faces south so you would see the planes against the light from the beach). The disadvantages are that you are shooting from an unstable platform. Getting motion-blur-free images of the prop planes with a slow shutter speed is really hard, and just keeping the fast moving jets in the frame is a challenge. I found it much harder than shooting the same thing from land.

These shots are of the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight and the RAF Eurofighter Typhoon.

Ancient and modern: Avro Lancaster PA474 flying with Eurofighter Typhoon. The Typhoon is flying in a nose up attitude to match the speed of the Lancaster. About 65 years separate the introduction of these aircraft to the RAF.

These are mint. Love the Lancaster - the only other flightworthy one in the world is based at the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum, near where I live. It actually crossed the Atlantic about a decade ago to fly with the one you've pictured here.
