I've been trying to get a synced time lapse of a 3D printing. My printer actually presses my Canon wireless remote and triggers a photo on my R5.

But I can never get all the way through the process before my camera stops taking photos.

The problem is entirely in the camera. When this happens. I can remove the remote and pressing doesn't rake a photo.

I think it has something to do with focus. If I manually focus the camera, it starts working again.

I have tried manual focus and auto focus and it happens in both.

These time lapse take hundreds to thousands of photos. But it never stops at the beginning.

Any suggestions of why this happens?

A slight correction. When I said manual focus. I didn't mean turning the focus ring. I meant forcing an auto-gocus by pointing at a different subject and pressing the shutter button on the camera.

Then the remote shutter begins to work again.
