Hi Folks

mom in the market for a new tripod and was considering the carbon iFootage carbon upright gazell but turns out they don’t ship to UK right now because of Brexit....what a nightmare this has been... So I was wondering if anyone could recommend a decent carbon tripod around £250 $300 dollars mark?

Take a look at the lineup from 3 Legged Thing. They make great tripods and are also UK based.

I looked at Three Legged Thing when tripod shopping and finally ended up buying a Benro Rhino. They have a carbon model in your price range. I got the larger one with the V30 ball head, but this one is in your price range:

I'm very happy with my purchase. This thing is going to last for a very long time.

Nothing at all against Three Legged Thing, mind you. I was looking for a heavy-duty carbon fiber tripod with an Arca-Swiss mount and the one I bought came in at the best price at the time.

I just bought the MeFOTO GlobeTrotter 64.2" Carbon Fiber Travel Tripod/Monopod w/Case

I'm very impressed so far. Super stable and I was playing around with the Canon R with my Sigma 150-600 with the teleconverter and RF converter which makes it very long. Then throw in shooting the moon at about 70 degs and it was still supper stable. Oh and I was almost at the full 64" as well. That is one of the other things I like about it I'm 6'2" and was tired of having short tripods. The ball head seems pretty darn good as well. It maybe a little higher then your budget but I can recommend it in my one week with it so far.

I did have a look and will now revisit Benro and three legged thing

Carbon fiber tripods are the way to go if you plan on shooting with long exposure times. The CF legs damp out any vibrations almost immediately, whereas aluminum legs ring like a bell. When I was comparison shopping a decade ago I brought along my camera with my 400mm lens. I mounted them on aluminum and CF tripods and shot video while I clicked the tripod legs with a fingernail. The vibration showed up as the image moving around in the video. When I ran the experiment on the aluminum tripod the image kept moving for a second or more. When I repeated the experiment with the CF tripod the initial displacement of the system showed in the image and then the motion stopped. Aluminum tripods may seem more budget friendly, even if they are cold on your bare hands during the winter, but they are only good for holding your camera up between shots. Carbon fiber tripods, on the other hand, will hold your camera steady in challenging conditions and are warmer to hold. Don't buy a cheap tripod and then go back and buy the tripod you should have bought in the first place. You won't be saving money.

Thank you for the information. I didn't take much into consideration other than the difference in weight and price when I was comparison shopping. I'm glad I went with the CF!

I swallowed real hard before dropping coin for the Peak Design Carbon Fiber tripod. Pricey, but if you look around you can usually find a 20% discount code making it about $480.

SUPER small when closed, very stable. Truly a unique design that works. Available with same design in aluminum for $250 less than the CF version.

There marketing videos are entertaining depending on which employee makes them
