You gain one stop of light and change the crop factor by 0.71, that means that
400 x 1.6 = 640
640 x 0.71 = 454

454 is closer to the original value of 400.

In another words, it makes EF lenses to behave in an ASP-C camera almost in the same way as in a full frame camera and gaining some light in the process.

I have the version for RF so it converts from EF to RF.
