  1. Yes
Opinion please for a lighter weight Canon, than the original R.

R50 w/RF-S 55-210 F5-7.1 IS STM vs Rebel T7 w/EF-S 55-250 f/4-5.6 IS STM

This is for my wife who want's to take good snapshots and will probably not shoot in Manual Mode and video is not a selling point.

That’s kind of obvious I think when you want a lighter camera:

I have an R50 and I like it a lot. (changed systems from m43 this summer)
Would never buy a DSLR again.

Just buy her an R5II and a set of barbells....

... and be prepared to sleep on the sofa for a good long while.

:p

My wife has been using an R100 for almost a year and has really taken to it. I'm the R50 would be even better. Because she stuck with the RF mount, she can make use of my lenses as needed as well.

I have the R50, and it is SMALL! From the specs, it's also lighter than the T7. I took it to Disney World, and it performed well. I like it.

(I got mine refurbished from Canon with the RF-S18-45mm for $450.)

Both FF. Including batteries. R = 1.46 lb. R8 = 1.02 lb.
R50 = Approx. 13.23 oz.
She's not a "photographer", and would pick a pretty camera over features and quality. After being together over 44 years... I know her.

I bought an R10 to anchor a little urban prowl kit. Both my wife and daughter use it more than I do. I don't think they'd ever consider taking out my big FF kit by themselves. The R10, R50 and R100 are roughly the same size.

When they use the R10 I pair it with an RF-S 18-150mm. That's a delightful little lens. I bought a Sigma 18-50/2.8 for me, but that 18-150 is so versatile that I use it more than the Sigma, and it's not much bigger.
