This may be of interest to Canon shooters. Rudy Winston in coming back to Canon! Rudy is an amazing guy who has really helped me understand some of the more intricate features of my Canon cameras. I was really bummed out when he left. I'm glad to see him coming back (and look forward to some of his YouTube stuff!) Any other Rudy fans here?

His 7DII video was very helpful describing the case numbers. That’s when there were 6. Too bad they pulled that video and a lot of his blogs, etc as well. I had quite a few links to his stuff.

I remember his video of case numbers. It was very helpful.

That's good news since he's a wealth of knowledge.

What an interesting progression.

7D - Tracking Sensivity (TS) only. I set mine to -2 and shot like that for almost 5 years.

7D2 and 5D4. 6 Case numbers and Canon added two more parameters. Accel/Decel and AF Point Switching.

The new R bodies. Canon turfs Cases 5&6, AF point Switching and adds a new category - Auto. They also create a new menu - Switching Tracked Subjects (STS).

R5II and R1. Case numbers are now gone. Just Manual and Auto. In Auto Canon adds control to TS. Perfection IMO. The algorithms for Accel/Decel adjust automatically based on subject movement. You have control over TS. They also turfed STS which really like as well. I hope my R6II and R7 get those FM updates but not holding my breath. Hope to see that in future bodies I get.

Hard to keep up sometimes!

Yes but Canon is making it simpler so we devote our time to shooting fun. If I ever get those newest menus I’ll go Auto, set TS to the lowest setting and never look at it again for the next 5 years. I might tweak the manual setting if I’m shootings drag races and stuff like that.
