Just got my R5. Downloaded the manual but find it complicated about the following: I'm not interested in video at all. I want to record stills only, using my CF card until it's full and then have the camera auto switch to use the SD card. Perhaps a dumb question (I'm from Staffordshire). Please advise me. If you can keep it simple all the better as there's so much to set up and I don't want to get things wrong to start with.

The complete user manual is available for download on the Canon site. It's a nearly a 1000 page PDF, which explains why it's a soft copy. Pages 734 through 736 cover the topic. Basically, open the in-camera menu and select Set-Up (that's the wrench icon) and then the number 1 (in the second row). Then follow the below camera manual instructions:

That should do it. Good luck.

camera menu 1 set to RAW with jpeg set to off, wrench menu 1 record func+card to separate disable, still rec options set to auto switch card
