Hi All,
Have always been a fan of photography, but never "addicted". If you know what I mean. I somehow always had a decent camera in my cabinet, albeit mostly entry level. I remember many years back the fun I had on my old DSLR cameras (Canon 1000D and even earlier). But it always was just "fun", shooting pictures when on holiday, kids in the swimming pool etc. I always made an effort to understand what shutter and aperture priority is - but never really applied it. P mode always for me just worked.
About 5 years ago I purchased a Canon 90D and I was ready to take my photography to the next level. But....sigh....not to my surprise it again ended up in my cabinet for most of the year and only being used for annual events. I am sure many people can relate. So last year (Dec 2023), my sister invited me and my wife for a visit and I knew she was really into her photography. Man, I mean...she was good! Her pictures were published often and I was in awe of what she could do. But hey - I was going to show her what I can do with my 90D. Soon after arriving we went out to start taking pictures and me all hot shot was soooo ready to take National Geographic style pictures. Within 24 hrs I was brought back down to earth, multiple eggs on my face and I had to humbly admit to my sister that I was not worth the word photographer. She laughed and took me under her wing. Wow....did she change me. Showed me how much fun it is. To go places and wait for that right moment. To take every scene as an opportunity, whether it is landscape, wildlife or MACRO. Within days - I was hooked! BUT...(always a BUT) - I had OK lenses with my Canon 90D. Nothing serious but OK. My image quality was just not what I wanted. So started some research and made MANY phone calls. And the general advise was: 90D is GREAT..but instead of investing in an expensive EF lens, rather go for mirrorless, get an R7 with an RF 100-400 lens and you are set! I nearly had to sell my soul, but I got just that! Game changer!! WOW!!! Suddenly everything changed. I fell in love with photography. And it has not stopped. Since Dec 2023 my wife and I are going out at every opportunity to take pictures. And I enjoy every second of it! I think I can call myself addicted now. I started taking courses, suddenly mostly taking pictures in manual, Tv or Av modes. I took one more decision and got the RF 100 500 L lens. Again...WOW! Loved it! So - here I am - joining this forum
Anyways enough of me. Jut to say Hi...am I hope you will hear more from me.
