I absolutely love walking around with my RF100-400mm lens. It's like it's not there. But I have noticed that now I am a bit older and don't have such steady hands it does wobble around a lot as there is no damping affect of the weight. This is even worse if something exciting happens or you know you only have an instant - the adrenalin effect I call it! This has added to the already tricky AF tracking problems of BIF with the R7 and I tend to use a gimbal head where possible although of course if there is a long walk involved it negates the weight advantage. Perhaps a compromise in weight of the mid-weighted 100-500mm might help. Has anyone else noticed this?

You could try adding weight to it, but I think I know how that would work out.

What about a monopod with an ARCA Swiss plate on it? You could at least support the camera body with it. I have an aluminum Monfrotto I got from MPB for like $45. It is pretty well used, but it’s built like a tank and works very well.
