Some P-51 shots from the Reno Air Races. Unfortunately this was the final year in Reno, but the association is trying to continue them in some form at a location to be determined.
Thanks. Reno was always had a fantastic gathering of P-51s. 15 this year plus the newly restored Thunderbird. Once owned by Jimmy Stewart and the last propeller aircraft to win the Bendix Trophy Race from California to Cleveland. Didn't race, but gave the crowd a nice show
Nice pictures.
I have a question, I see on your EXIDF data you were using the rf100-500 + and 1.4 extender, but the actual focal length is shown as 400 in one capture and 420 in another. I considering purchasing that lens and I was just wondering why you mounted the teleconverter and stayed within the native range of the lens focal length.

The first three are actually with the bare lens at 500mm. For the last one I was probably tying to let people get by in the grandstand and just forgot to zoom back out right away. Because the lens can't be fully retracted with the t/c it becomes a 420-700 zoom . And it feels like it's extended even though it's not.
You were probably seeing the shutter speed on the first ones. 1/400 is really too fast for props, but my arms and hands get less steady every year so I shoot a few at higher speeds to make sure I get the airframe.
