Pied Hornbills on the island of Koh Yao Noi Thailand.
The owner of the holiday property we stayed in, is an amazing Ambassador to the islands Pied Hornbills. He makes the nest boxes and hangs them in suitable trees for the birds to use.
One came to check us out and to see if we had any fruit it could have :))

The Great Hornbill is about twice this size!
The female seals herself in the nest, box, with only enough of a gap for them to exchange food. The male has to feed the female and the chicks when they hatch. When the young are old enough the parents chip away at the mud used to seal the nest so they can get out. They mate for life. Truly amazing birds.
