Aftermarket batteries will not work with Canon R5 MkII either in camera or in grips.

How many batteries did you buy?
I was lucky and had a friend bring me three from the USA so I now have 4 in total which is probably total overkill. On a recent holiday where I was out most days for several hours I managed with just one battery, re-charging after my morning session and ready for the evening one and vice versa.
I had set the camera to use as little power as possible. WiFi and Bluetooth off, no continuous autofocus, little use of the LCD screen, no video recording, no pre-shoot activated, no in camera deleting and as little chimping as possible. I was only recording to one card and that was in CRAW.
OK, the camera is designed to do a lot more but when it comes down to basics it was enough for me to take over 3000 shots on a charge using electronic shutter.
Having four batteries certainly is a luxury of not needing to worry about power at all, and at the price I paid a nice luxury to have too. If I'd paid the full price asked for in the UK they would amounted to over 10% of the cost of the camera. Mind you add an extra battery grip and it doubles again. Crazy!

I also now have four, but have the battery grip as well, so two in and two spare. I have the grip because the camera feels better in my hands with it than without it.
