Hi All,
I am new to the R series and mirrorless cameras. I have the Canon R5 with the RF 100 - 500 L IS. Really pleased with the combo so far. I have just been cleaning before putting away and notice that the middle element of the 100 500 is moving quite a bit when viewed from the front. I assume that this is for image stabilisation but have never noticed anything like this before. Is this normal. Would be interested if anyone else observes the same. Thank you.

I haven't noticed it with my R5 and RF100-500mm but became very alarmed when my EF 100mm f/2.8 L Macro sounded like a jar of loose belly beans a few years ago. Then I found this article and some others about "parking" Canon IS lenses and that did the trick.

What's That "Rattling" Sound From Your Image Stabilized Lens?

Thanks for the reply Hutch. I have also found this article that may be of interest. https://www.dpreview.com/forums/thread/4546469
Still a little off putting.
