After almost two years with this camera, I haven't used the pre-shooting function, so I thought I'd give it a try. I set a custom button, the movie shooting button, to give me quick access to the Enable Raw Burst-->enable Pre-Shooting (easily turned off with a switch to another custom mode on the dial). Initial results were not too bad...might have to use it more often. I extracted the files using DPP (instead of in-camera).
