That amber-red eye, what an amazing image.
(I was going to say "striking image" but that could have been interpreted as a pun as the subject is a woodpecker.)

Agreed! You can almost always hear them before you see them!

(As I get older, I've learned to not just 'see', but to 'listen'! Chickadees, Finches, Sparrows - among others - almost always announce themselves before arriving! So very awesome!)
