RF35mm focus/Autofocus noise

Hi All

When autofocusing and using the manual focusing ring on the RF35 lens there is an obvious noise. I'm looking to send it back to get checked but was wondering if anybody else experiences it or if it is completely silent for you.

If it is the RF 35 1.8 STM, then I would expect there to be audible noise during focusing. The STM focus motors are nowhere near as quiet as the USM focus motors. I don't have the RF35 1.8, but I have the RF 50mm 1.8 STM and I can definitely hear that focusing. I can hear it any time the focus motor is running.

Maybe it's all normal then. I get what sounds like a 'grind' when I manually focus the lens. It's not erutiatingly loud but I recon it'd get picked up on video. I'll give it a test...

Simon, I made an audio recording of the noise my STM lens makes, but can't post it here (the .m4a format is not allowed), so I sent you a private message asking for your email so I can email the file to you.
