I am interested in when people turn off Image Stabilization. Do you turn it off when your camera is on a tripod?

It depends... When I had a DSLR Most of the time yes. With my R's not so much. The newer lenses apparently have some sort of sensor built in that they can detect if they are on a tripod. I have mostly EF lenses though and for some of them, yes or, like the 500mm, if they have a stabilization 1 or 2 I keep the stabilization on and turn it to type 2 which shouldn't work, but it does most of the time.

Thanks Hali.

I turn it off on the tripod if I'm doing a long exposure shot, otherwise I leave it on. Otherwise, I'll forget to turn it back on and wonder why I'm getting motion blur. Like today. LOL

Fast, sharp, and lightweight! A great lens
This is my main workhorse of a lens and I love it. It's very light weight (only around 2.3 lbs) lens. I've been able to hand-hold it for an event...
