Actually, I'm thinking of a different acronym of W.T.F.

Today I started getting a message in Lightroom CC (desktop) V.8.4 Some images need AI settings to be updated before export.

As you can see in the screen shots, the error and the fact that AI has indeed been applied. Google hasn't been a help...even when insisting I'm using Creative Cloud.

The AI in question are Denoise and Adaptive Color profile. Never had an issue until this photo, and the image "appears" to have the AI applied. Any Ideas?

I don’t use Lr but LrC has a a wheel in the masking panel header that will turn orange when masks need to be updated. LrC updated it so you can spot it easily. While inconvenient if lets you apply settings of recommended order.

Here is what it looks like in LrC. It's clear at first. Goes grey when masking has been applied and then orange when an update is needed - which takes seconds.

An example. I applied Adaptive Color AI first, then Denoise AI and it turned orange.

Suggested order but I even on one of Anthony Morganti's videos he likes to start with Adaptive Color first and so do I.

I got this from a thread at the Lightroom Queens site. Before the recent LrC and Lr updates the Update Mask indictor was a small red dot.

In general, applying a command that changes the pixels used to create an AI mask will cause the red dot to appear, warning you to recompute that AI mask using the new pixels. Examples:

- Remove on top of an AI mask (Subject, Sky, etc.).

- Remove on top of Adaptive Color (which creates internal AI masks).

- Remove on top of Lens Blur (which uses a depth-of-field AI mask).

- Lens Blur on top of Adaptive Color.

- Lens Blur on top of an AI mask.

Problem Solved!

Rebooted the laptop. I've had this laptop for about a week and didn't expect that!

Oh. I’ve nerver tried exporting with the orange warning on. To me layers of AI is like building a shed. You don’t start with the roof.

How you ever watched this Brit sit com? It's hilarious.

It worked without resetting but that was not your problem. It was a good lesson anyway. Now I know it can export so I'll be careful to check that it has been reset. Since that header is always open it's easy to spot

@Only RF, IT Crowd is so funny. Probably my most quoted source other than Monty Python.

Actually I haven't opened your YouTube link, but I am guessing it's a compilation of "Have you tried turning it off and one again", fantastic running gag.

Yes it is. That is my custom title at the Lightroom Queens site. Too bad the link didn't work for you.

I thought you had an AI edit order issue. For others out there typically if LrC is having weird issues the first thing to do is restart LrC and or the comp. Then try resetting Preferences. Last is using the CC app installer uninstall an reinstall LrC. I don't often have to go that far but when I do I usually try uninstalling LrC first with comp reboots at each phase. You don't have to go back and set up all of your Preferences.
