I was going for that Sci-Fi monster lair look. Had I known I was going to take this photo I would have added H-O scale military personnel with blasters.

That's a stunning amount of detail! The veins on the carapace and the blue in the joints is really amazing. And the crevice it's hiding in is so monochrome! I want to ask more about how you coloured this in post but I don't want to sound like too much of an ass lol

I used a Layer Brush with Saturation set to ZERO. There are other ways as well.
